Best Wig Knot Concealer: 6 Things to Check Before You Buy
Stick, spray, tape or melt-in? An inventor’s honest checklist — use it on any product, including mine.
The best wig knot concealer covers both the knots and the lace grid, matches your skin tone, stays put through your day, and washes out without damaging the lace. Use the six checks below to compare any product.
I invented the lace wig grid knot concealer nine years ago because nothing on the market did both jobs. Since then the shelf has filled up. Here is how to tell the options apart.
The four types you’ll see
| Type | What it does | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Tinted stick + brush | Colours knots and lace | Often colours rather than fills the grid |
| Lace tint spray | Changes lace colour fast | Doesn’t cover knots or grid texture |
| Silicone “fake scalp” tape | Sits under the lace | Adds a layer; can shift or show edges |
| Melt-in grid knot concealer | Fills the grid and covers knots | Needs melting; apply thin |
6 things to check
- Does it cover the grid, or only the knots? If the mesh still shows on camera, the part still looks like a wig.
- Shade range and blendability. Can you mix shades to hit your exact skin tone? A part one shade off is more obvious than no product.
- Does it stay where you put it? Ask whether it transfers to clothing or skin once set, and how it handles a long day.
- How does it come off? It should wash out with warm water and soap, not need harsh removers that stress the lace.
- What’s in it? Read the ingredient list and patch test, especially with a sensitive scalp.
- Uses per tube. Compare cost per install, not price per tube.
Where The Lace Wig Grid Knot Concealer fits
It is a 2-in-1 that covers the lace grid and the knots in the parting space in one step. It was originally developed in Switzerland, has been on the market for over nine years, and has been used on HBO productions.
Shades
- Four shades: Eni, Tan, Mich, Dan
- Made to be blended together
Ingredients
- Bentonite & kaolin clays, cocoa powder, palm wax
- Moringa, lemon & sage oils, charcoal, beetroot, turmeric
Value
- About 20 uses per 35ml tube
- 6–8 uses per 5ml mini
- Works on all lace types
If you only need a quick colour fix on a blonde unit, a tint spray may be all you need. If your knots are dark and your grid shows on camera, you need something that fills the grid.
Questions we get asked
What’s the difference between a knot concealer and lace tint?
Lace tint changes the colour of the lace. A grid knot concealer fills the mesh and covers the knots, so the part reads as skin rather than tinted lace.
How many uses do I get?
About 20 from a 35ml tube and 6 to 8 from a 5ml mini tube, depending on how wide your parting space is.
Which size should I start with?
Start with the 5ml mini to find your shade, then move to the 35ml tube.
Can I use it with glue?
Yes. It works glueless or glued. With glue, bonding time varies, so we suggest a melting spray or waterproof glue.
The one that covers both.
Grid and knots, one step, four blendable shades. Start with a mini to find your match.
